2011–2016·Series 991.1

Built at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen for model years 2012 through 2016 under chief designer Michael Mauer, the Porsche 911 Type 991 Phase 1 replaced the 997 with an all-new platform. Its wheelbase grew by nearly four inches, the rear wheels moved three inches rearward, and an aluminum-steel composite body reduced weight while increasing rigidity. Electric power steering replaced the prior hydraulic system. Base Carrera and Carrera S models used naturally aspirated flat-sixes making 350 hp and 400 hp, establishing this as the final naturally aspirated series Carrera generation.
