Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (C199)

2003–2010·Series C199

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren represents an extraordinary cross-national supercar collaboration, uniting Mercedes-Benz engineering and Affalterbach powertrain prowess with McLaren Automotive carbon-composite racing construction in Woking, England. Inspired by the legendary historic 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé, the SLR introduced a dramatic front-mid-engine grand touring silhouette distinguished by dramatic swing-wing butterfly doors, side-exit exhaust pipes, and an active rear airbrake flap. Its bespoke handcrafted dry-sump 5.4-liter supercharged M155 V8 delivered 617 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque, propelling the carbon monocoque to a blistering 207 mph top speed. Expanding to include the uprated 722 Edition, open-top Roadster, and radical windshield-less Stirling Moss speedster, the SLR McLaren remains an iconic hyper-GT titan of the 2000s.
