Land Rover Range Rover Classic

1970–1995·Series Classic

Produced from 1970 to 1995 with 317,615 units manufactured at Solihull, the original Range Rover Classic created the luxury four-wheel-drive segment by pairing an all-aluminum Rover V8 with full-time four-wheel drive and long-travel coil springs. Available initially as a two-door before adding four-door convenience in 1981 and a 108-inch long-wheelbase LSE derivative in 1992, it transitioned from dual carburetors to electronic fuel injection. Diligence requires probing chassis outriggers and inner sills for structural rust, inspecting the upper aluminum clamshell tailgate for corrosion, checking Rover V8 valvetrains for camshaft lobe rounding, and testing late electronic air suspension systems for air leaks.
