1993 Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR
63,000 mi · manual · Scottsdale, AZ
The Ferrari 512 TR is a longitudinal mid-engine flat-12 sports car built in Maranello from 1991 to 1994 under internal project code Tipo F110 HB. Introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show for the 1992 model year as the successor to the original Testarossa, it delivered a profound mechanical and aesthetic transformation. Restyled by Pietro Camardella at Pininfarina, the 512 TR adopted a modernized trapezoidal nose, body-color engine lid louvers, and a redesigned cockpit. Beneath the coachwork, Ferrari lowered the entire engine and transaxle assembly by 30 mm within the tubular spaceframe, radically reducing the center of gravity and curing roll instability. Its 4.9-liter 48-valve Tipo F113 D flat-12 gained Nikasil cylinder liners, larger intake valves, and dual Bosch Motronic management to produce 428 hp. Paired with a lighter single-plate clutch and 18-inch wheels, the 512 TR represents the dynamic sweet spot of the flat-12 lineage.
