BMW Z3 M Coupe

1998–2002·Series E36/7

The BMW Z3 M Coupe is an iconic shooting-brake sports coupe manufactured by BMW in Spartanburg, South Carolina from 1998 through 2002 across 6,291 examples worldwide, with 2,858 delivered to North America. Developed as an engineering skunkworks initiative under Burkhard Göschel, the rigid closed-roof body shell achieved 2.7 times the torsional stiffness of the Z3 roadster. Early North American models used the 240-hp S52 3.2-liter inline-six, while 2001 and 2002 models received the high-revving 315-hp S54 engine with individual throttle bodies, paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission.
