The second-generation Audi R8 (Type 4S) is an exotic mid-engine sports car produced between 2015 and 2024 across approximately 16,000 units at Audi Sport Bollinger Hofe manufacturing plant in Heilbronn, Germany. Debuting at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the Type 4S advanced the Audi Space Frame with a hybrid multi-material structure combining 73 percent aluminum with 13 percent carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), yielding a 40 percent increase in torsional rigidity. Powered exclusively by an odd-firing 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 producing between 532 hp and 612 hp paired with a rapid 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, the Type 4S offered both electrohydraulic quattro all-wheel drive and purist rear-wheel-drive (RWS/RWD/GT) configurations.
