The 2.7-liter flat-six was rebuilt under previous ownership with RS-spec pistons and cylinders, Carrera chain tensioners, Dilavar head studs, updated idler arms, and a high-volume oil pump. A replacement five-speed Type 901 transaxle was refurbished by S-CAR-GO of San Rafael in 2018, while the original four-speed gearbox is included. The car was refinished in factory Polo Red in 2014, before the current owner purchased it in 2015.
