GarageScout Take

The 1972-only Oelklappe configuration anchors a heavily re-engineered early 911, with an Ed Mayo-built 2.7-liter, PMO carburetors, a rebuilt 915, and suspension and brake work to match. Signal Yellow is uncommon among observed examples of this generation, while mileage sits below its median. The replacement engine, deleted trim and fog lights, LED lighting, and disconnected rear defroster keep this firmly in modified-restomod territory.

Strengths

  • 1972-only Oelklappe external oil filler configuration.
  • Original Signal Yellow finish retained through the November 2023 refinish, with a customized leather interior.
  • Engine rebuild documents work by Ed Mayo, Pauter Machine, Custom Crankshaft, and Soren Anderson.
  • Overhauled suspension and braking systems include Bilstein dampers, adjustable spring plates, upgraded Porsche calipers, and performance rotors.

Watch For

  • The car has extensive modifications, including a replacement 2.7-liter engine, custom wheels, deleted trim, LED lighting
  • The rear defroster is not connected.
  • The front fog lights were deleted; their wiring and switch remain in place.
