A seven-year rotisserie restoration began in January 2017, with rust-free replacement panels from Restoration Design, reassembly by California Porsches, and a Silver Metallic refinish by East Auto Body. The replacement 2.2-liter flat-six was rebuilt and enlarged to 2.4 liters by Air Cooled Garage, while the 901 five-speed manual transmission was rebuilt and installed. The restored cabin has black upholstery with houndstooth inserts by K&H European Auto Upholstery, plus GTS Classics seats and RS-style door panels.
