GarageScout Take

The factory Magnetic Ride has been replaced with KW V1 coilovers, and the 68k-mile service covered the transaxle, coolant, serpentine belt, and spark plugs. Mileage sits above the middle for the generation, at 72,000 miles versus a 65,000-mile median. The rear-damage history, inoperative convertible-top flap sensors, exterior and wheel damage, battery drain, and restart warning lights remain part of the picture.

Strengths

  • Optional Ice Silver Metallic finish on an 8J TT roadster.
  • Documented 68k-mile service included transaxle work, coolant service, a serpentine belt, and spark plugs.
  • California history with a Carfax report and clean title.

Watch For

  • The Carfax report records minor rear damage in May 2016; the rear bumper cover was subsequently replaced.
  • Convertible-top cover flap motor sensors are faulty, preventing top operation; the flap motors are said to need replacement.
  • The car has a cracked grille, damaged lower front splitter, wheel curb marks, exterior scruffs, and visible wear on the outer seat bolsters.
  • The battery drains during extended storage, and warning lights remain illuminated for a period after restart.
