GarageScout Take
The early EA113 2.0T with its six-speed manual gives this A3 the sought timing-belt-era drivetrain, with a distinctly enthusiast-oriented set of modifications. The assumed-original timing-belt service, cosmetic and interior wear, unsensored BBS wheels triggering the TPMS light, and possible emissions trouble outside California are the tradeoffs.
Strengths
- Early U.S.-market second-generation A3, introduced here for 2006.
- No accidents or mileage discrepancies are reported on the named Carfax history report.
- Factory documentation and additional parts are included, including the build sheet, owner’s manual, mirror caps, and DAP short-shifter kit.
Watch For
- The seller said no service records were provided at purchase and assumed the timing belt, water pump, and tensioner were original.
- Exterior chips, scratches, and dings are noted, along with interior wear and a broken armrest-lid latch.
- The TPMS warning is illuminated because the BBS wheels do not have sensors installed.
- The seller notes that the modifications may prevent emissions testing in some states.
