GarageScout Take

Converted to IMSA GT racing trim by Craig Carter from a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro street car salvaged after Hurricane Agnes, with Carter’s letter confirming the conversion. Craig Carter drove the car in nearly all of its more than 30 IMSA GT races from 1972 through 1982, and its competition history includes a fourth-in-class finish at the Daytona 24 Hours. The car retains its Peerless Machine and Tool Co. livery from its 1978-period racing configuration.

Strengths

  • Period IMSA GT race history
  • Craig Carter provenance
  • Restored to 1978-period specification
  • Historic racing victories

Watch For

  • Converted from a flood-damaged salvaged street car
  • FIA/HTP papers would need to be obtained for European events
