GarageScout Take

Factory-finished Sable gives this roadster a documented original identity despite the 1987 repaint, with mileage sitting mid-pack for the generation. Rocker and floorboard rust, faded paint, missing driver-side door paneling, an engine that runs only with the fuel system bypassed, and an odometer that has rolled over twice all weigh against it.

Strengths

  • Grandfather-to-grandchild ownership, with the seller owning it since 2010.
  • Clean California title in the seller’s name, with a corrected replacement for the VIN typo.
  • Documented engine rebuild from 1977 and alternator and carburetor work from around 2017.
  • Factory-finished Sable roadster with its top boot and tonneau cover included.

Watch For

  • Rust bubbling is present on the lower rocker panels, with additional rust on the floorboards under the mats.
  • The car was repainted in 1987, paint fade is visible, and the driver-side door paneling requires replacement.
  • The engine runs only when bypassing the fuel delivery system; the air cleaner assembly and intake horns are disassembled.
  • The seller states that the five-digit odometer has rolled over twice.
