GarageScout Take
The TR6 gearbox with electric overdrive and a recently rebuilt, enlarged four-cylinder give this TR4A a distinctly developed mechanical specification, backed by receipts and manuals. Unknown total mileage, structural rust and visible rear-frame welds, plus difficult starting and an oil-pan leak, temper the otherwise substantial mechanical work.
Strengths
- Rebuilt 2,288cc engine with Piper camshaft, hardened valves, ARP head studs, upgraded water pump, and dual Weber DCOE carburetors.
- TR6 four-speed transmission with electric overdrive, Fidanza aluminum flywheel, and TR6 clutch assembly.
- Suspension and braking upgrades include a quick-ratio steering rack, polyurethane bushings, heavy-duty springs, replacement shocks, drilled front discs
- Repair documentation, receipts, spare parts, manuals, and accessories accompany the car.
Watch For
- The title carries a “Not actual mileage: Warning-Odometer discrepancy” code, and total mileage is unknown.
- The car was originally blue and reportedly refinished in red approximately 10 years ago; body filler is present on the driver-side fender.
- Rust is present, the brightwork and bumpers are pitted, and welds are visible on the rear frame members.
- The seller reports difficult starting after sitting, an oil-pan leak, and a cracked dashboard with a visible repair.
