A 409ci V8 and 700R4 automatic transmission were installed circa 2000, with records showing machine work, a valve job, and an overhaul in 2000 and 2001 using JE pistons, heavy-duty wrist pins, a Cloyes roller timing set, and ARP rod bolts. The metallic maroon repaint and four-wheel disc-brake conversion were also completed around 2000. The current owner purchased the Impala SS convertible in 1997, and approximately 20,000 miles have been added since then.
