GarageScout Take

Sir Max Aitken’s documented first ownership, factory records through 1960, and the car’s 2005 Mille Miglia Storica entry give this DB2 a traceable history from new through historic-road use.

Strengths

  • A 1951 DB2 from the approximately 250 examples equipped with the 2,580cc engine that introduced Aston Martin's Vantage nomenclature.
  • Documented provenance from Sir Max Aitken, supported by an Aston Martin Heritage Trust certificate and factory records through 1960.
  • Service documentation covers major engine work in 2015 and subsequent brake, cooling, suspension, carburetor, and differential work through 2018.
  • Mille Miglia Storica participation and Aston Martin Owners Club class awards provide period event history.

Watch For

  • Originally finished in Boticelli Blue, the car was repainted green under current ownership.
  • The suspension was lowered approximately 3 cm with lowering springs in 2017.
  • Rear axle and suspension-arm mounting brackets were repaired in 2018, and the differential cover received welding repairs for a hole.
